Alva’s College of Education (ACE), a unit of Alva’s Education Foundation, was established in the year of 2005. It is affiliated to Mangalore University and is a unique educational institution that represents the academic and cultural character of AEF. ACE offers the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme, which is a two years professional programme in the field of teacher education, envisages the new National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 with an aim to introduce several changes in the Indian education system.

This is a professional programme that prepares teachers for upper primary, secondary level (VI-X) and higher secondary level (classes XI-XII). ACE also aims at preparing practitioners and other educational professionals including man power for curriculum development, planners, administrators, supervisors, school principals and for extension activities. ACE not only strives at giving a good academic exposure but also involve students in co- curriculum and extra curriculum activities.

To set up a centre of excellence by offering world class education and research opportunities that fosters discovery and dissemination of knowledge which make students competent and ethically strong to be the part of diverse and constantly evolving educational community.

VISION STATEMENT

To impart quality education and moral values, so that students believe that the goal of the teacher is to develop students’ minds as powerful thinkers and problem-solvers. Pre- service teachers also view education as a profession in which practice and theory interact continually and dynamically to guide curriculum, pedagogy, and educational leadership.

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is a two-year full-time undergraduate course based on CBCS, consisting four semesters of 96 credits, with each semester of 24 credits approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and offered by Mangalore University, Mangalore.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION:

The medium of instruction for the course is English. However, candidates may write the examinations in Kannada for all papers except for language pedagogy papers.

ELIGIBILITY:

Any Bachelor/ Masters Degree from Recognised University,

  • with minimum 50% of the marks for general category
  • 45% of the marks for SC/ST/CAT-1/PWD.
